On April 7, CEDAR announced the first eight of its icons plug-ins for live sound, broadcast and post. They include the Live Sound series, defined by what the company calls CEDAR Quantum technology — those algorithms with less that 1ms latency that are suitable for live sound and live broadcast.
The first three in the Live Sound series are CEDAR StageVox, CEDAR ScreenVox and CEDAR DNS One. The first five in the Production Series, with a latency of greater than 1ms, are CEDAR Adaptive Limiter 2, CEDAR VoiceEX 2, CEDAR Declip, CEDAR Declick and CEDAR Decrackle.
The company is also now making five of the processes from its award-winning CEDAR Studio 9 and making them available as individual products. These include CEDAR Retouch, CEDAR Auto Dehiss, CEDAR Debuzz, CEDAR Manual Declick and CEDAR Dethump. Finally, the company is making its CEDAR Forensic Enhance available to everyone who needs to clean up forensic speech recordings to increase intelligibility.
Here are more details from CEDAR on each of the three Live Sound Series icons plug-ins.
The Live Sound Series: CEDAR StageVox
Recognizing the need for a near-zero latency noise reduction plug-in designed specifically for singers, we developed StageVox, which does for singing what our dialogue noise suppressors do for speech. StageVox is based on our Quantum™ technology, which is essential if you want to eliminate noise when working with live sound and tracking. It’s also great for mixing and mastering. Not only does it reduce noise, it also suppresses excessive reverberation, and it’s so efficient that you can run as many simultaneous instances as you need. CEDAR’s high-end noise suppression is used on major tours by artists including Ed Sheeran, Robbie Williams, The Jonas Brothers, Kylie Minogue, Rod Stewart and Girls Aloud. A new generation of users will now be able to add their names to that illustrious list with StageVox – it’s simple, it’s flexible, and it sounds great.
The Live Sound Series: CEDAR ScreenVox
CEDAR invented the digital dialogue noise suppressor. This transformed noise reduction in film & TV production, post, newscasting and sports reporting. Amongst other accolades, it won an Academy Award® for services to the movie industry. Today, there’s ScreenVox, a dedicated plug-in for the spoken word which, thanks to the latest advances in our Quantum™ near-zero latency dialogue noise reduction, ensures no loss of lip-sync. You can use ScreenVox in all scenarios including live sound, broadcasting, podcasting, post-production and archiving. Whether you’re working in a small home studio or performing live on the largest soundstages, ScreenVox is incredibly simple to use, and it offers world-class performance, suppressing background noise from speech for podcasts, YouTube videos, documentaries, dramas, and even next year’s highest grossing movies.
The Live Sound Series: CEDAR DNS One
When CEDAR received an Academy Award® for transforming dialogue noise suppression in film post-production, the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts And Sciences stated that the DNS1000 could “be found on virtually all dubbing stages worldwide, and has become the tool of choice for removing unwanted noise by re-recording mixers everywhere”. Today, the latest version of DNS has evolved further than ever before. With CEDAR’s unique LEARN capability and controls to determine the range of frequencies to be processed, it offers users the ability to process the whole audio spectrum or focus on specific problems. If you’re working in post or anywhere else where near-zero latency is a requirement, the Quantum™ powered dialogue noise suppression in DNS One remains a legendary process trusted by the most demanding audio professionals.
