Powered loudspeaker manufacturer BASSBOSS releases the BB15, a powered subwoofer for everyone who wants to add heavy bass to their system, using a surprisingly light and compact cabinet. This new single 15″ sub makes high-fidelity low-frequency response available in a small package. It transports in smaller vehicles, suits smaller events and more intimate spaces, and provides big-subwoofer output without being intimidating in size or in price.
BASSBOSS continues to push the envelope for mobile-optimized powered subwoofers. A powerful, easily portable system for deep bass and superior sound quality, the BB15 offers Plug and Play usage, integrated DSP, and a 2400 RMS continuous amplifier in a compact, lightweight design. At only 21″ x 17″ x 24″ and 70 lbs, it produces surprisingly deep bass for its size. With frequency response down to 40 Hz ±3 dB, it brings to life notes that mass-market subs simply don’t reproduce.
Power is provided by a 2,400W RMS amplifier with integrated, comprehensive DSP. This generous amount of continuous power ensures the amp isn’t the limiting factor in the output of low frequencies. Providing abundant power prevents overheating issues and virtually eliminates the damage that clipping a too-small amp can cause.
Plug and Play!
No outboard processing is required and none is recommended. BASSBOSS subs can be connected directly to a mixer with nothing but signal cable in between. The built-in processing is comprehensive and yet minimal manipulation is applied to the signal. The processing includes only a high pass filter, a low-pass filter and limiting. There is no need for any EQ in the signal for the speaker to provide a broad, flat frequency response. A sophisticated proprietary limiter system protects the woofer from thermal and over-excursion damage.
The BB15 is designed to minimize size and weight while maximizing efficiency and output. An efficient, universal application, cost-effective subwoofer, it features a 15 inch neodymium motor woofer with a 4″ split-wound, multi-layer aluminum voice coil in a Baltic Birch enclosure. The rigid, cross-braced cabinet constructed from 15mm multi-ply Birch and is finished in a rugged, black polyurethane coating. Drivers are protected by a black powder-coated, perforated steel grill.
The BB15’s driver features a high-intensity Neodymium magnet, which is lighter and provides higher efficiency than ceramic ferrite so the result is a lighter and louder cabinet. Split-wound coils produce a more linear force through the range of movement of the cone, for lower distortion and improved linearity at high output. Aluminum windings allow for higher motor force for the same mass as copper, resulting in further improved efficiency.
The net result of this combination of generous power, a premium driver, proprietary protection and an efficient design is remarkable performance, consistent with all BASSBOSS products.
