Announced last year, Avantone Pro is shipping Kick, a sub-frequency dynamic microphone that utilizes its famous reproduction “white cone” low-frequency driver. Kick brings the boom from bass drums out to the forefront, making large-sounding sources sound massive.
The Low Frequency driver is the 6.5” diameter AV10-MLF the company also markets as a direct replacement for NS-10 studio monitors. It has a single, continuous-press formed cone to match that classic sound. This allows a much higher level of quality control and consistency during the manufacturing process. The Kick is built using a birch-ply drum shell, and mounting it on a standard mic stand just won’t do, so the Avantone Pro Kick package includes a heavy-duty, stage-ready double-braced drum stand.
Street price is $349, including stand.
