Loudspeaker manufacturer 1 Sound is now shipping its “The Towers” series LCC44 Cardioid Column Array, which employs innovative technology to achieve dramatic improvements in column array performance.
LCC44’s Clarity Technology achieves excellent high-frequency output for a compact column. Years of development have resulted in a coaxial waveguide that mates the coverage pattern of the four 1.5″ coaxially mounted compression drivers to the coverage of four mounted 4″ mid/bass drivers. These proprietary drivers set high standards for transient response, definition, high SPL and coverage. Combined this with cardioid cancellation, each speaker has a “musical,” coherent, 120° dispersion pattern.
The LCC44 incorporates three rear-facing 4″ drivers to achieve two goals: At low frequencies, the rear-facing drivers combine with the front facing drivers to achieve extended low frequency response never before achieved in a narrow column array. Response down to 90 Hz allows the full human vocal range to be reproduced without a subwoofer. At higher frequencies, the rear-facing drivers are fed a processed signal that provides cancellation of the low-mid frequencies that “wrap around” the enclosure. This reduces unwanted sound emitted from the rear of the enclosure.
Systems incorporate friendly rigging and installation options. These include a steel subframe that creates an extremely robust cabinet, enabling hanging up to (10) LCC44’s utilizing integrated hardware. And easy-to use rigging hardware enables pole mount or flying applications with selectable angles of 0°/+3°/-3°, while a new bracket design allows for single-person installations of LCC44.
