MIAMI BEACH, FL – The Frank Gehry-designed New World Center (NWC) is home to the New World Symphony, and along with the 756-seat concert hall, HD video images of the performances are projected onto a 75-by-100-foot exterior wall. To complete the experience, the 2.5-acre, $13 million SoundScape public viewing/listening area has been equipped with more than 160 self-powered Meyer Sound loudspeakers.

ORLANDO, FL – The AVnu Alliance has announced its featured panel discussion on AVB standards – IEEE 802.1 Audio/Video Bridging: The Future of Standards-Based AV Networking. ESCONDIDO, CA – Sound Image recently purchased its first Midas PRO6 digital console. The PRO6 was put to work immediately on the current Diddy Dirty Money tour, featuring Sean "P Diddy" Combs, with veteran FOH engineer Joel Lonky at the controls. After the completion of the tour, Lonky will continue with the PRO6 on the upcoming Rob Zombie tour.

Audio Crew Chooses Stagetec Gear for “Follies” at Kennedy Center

WASHINGTON, DC – The sound design team for a six-week revival of the 1971 musical, Follies, at Kennedy Center, included theatrical sound designer Kai Harada, engineer Patrick Pummill and assistant designer Jana Hoglund. Harada chose a Stagetec Aurus digital console and Nexus digital router to achieve a "natural" sound image. Follies garnered seven Tony Awards when it originally opened on Broadway.

“Book of Mormon,” “War Horse” Garner Tony Sound Design Honors

NEW YORK – The American Theatre Wing announced the winners for the 2011 Tony Awards, which were televised live on CBS June 12. The winner for Best Sound Design of a Play was Christopher Shutt for War Horse; nominees included Acme Sound Partners and Cricket S. Myers for Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo; Simon Baker for Brief Encounter; and Ian Dickinson/Autograph for Jerusalem. The winner for Best Sound Design of a Musical was Brian Ronan for The Book of Mormon; nominees included Peter Hylenski for The Scottsboro Boys;  Steve Canyon Kennedy for Catch Me If You Can; and Brian Ronan for Anything Goes.
