INDIO, CA – Some 200,000 made the trek to the three-day 2011 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, and many more would have attended if the event wasn't sold out. The good news for the many sound professionals hoping to work at the event next year is that the festival will be staged over two consecutive weekends.

NASHVILLE – For country songwriter Luke Bryan's Emotional Traffic Tour, which opens for Tim McGraw, production manager/FOH mixer Pete Healey and monitor mixer Ed Janiszewski opted for DiGiCo SD8 consoles for the Clair Global-supported tour, with an SD8-24 at FOH and SD8-36 for monitors plus two DiGiRacks.

NEW YORK – This year's Drama Desk Awards, held May 23 at the Hammerstein Ballroom at Manhattan Center, may have been a little less dramatic than most, as far as the top awards for sound design for a musical and play were concerned. The sound design winners for top musical and play, respectively – Brian Ronan and Acme Sound Partners/Cricket S. Myers – were the odds-on favorites with two awards nominations each.
