2011 CMA Award Performances Heard Via Audio-Technica, Shure

NASHVILLE – The 45th annual Country Music Association (CMA) Awards aired live in 5.1-channel surround sound Nov. 9 on ABC from the Bridgestone Arena. The audio crew, no strangers to live broadcasts, included audio producers Michael Abbott and Tom Davis; sound provider ATK/Audiotek; FOH mixers Patrick Baltzell and Rick Shimer; monitor engineers Michael Parker and Jason Spence; and broadcast mixers M3 (Music Mix Mobile) with John Harris and Jay Vicari. Alison Krauss & Union Station Tours with Dual DiGiCo SD10s

KNOXVILLE, TN – The engineers supporting the 2011 Alison Krauss & Union Station (AKUS) Paper Airplanes tour, including FOH engineer Cliff Miller and monitor team Bernie Velluti and daughter Haley, have been using DiGiCo SD10 consoles. Miller specified the dual consoles used for the tour after first trying them out for AKUS at Merlefest in 2010.

KNOXVILLE, TN – Thunder Audio is supporting Dolly Parton's Better Day world tour with Meyer Sound gear. BC Place Reopens with JBL VLA Line Arrays

VANCOUVER, BC – BC Place reopened Sept. 30, replacing its inflatable dome roof with a new cable-supported retractable roof design. The project also included the largest installation of JBL VLA line array gear to date. Clair Brothers Audio Systems installed 160 JBL VLA601-WRC 3-way line array loudspeakers in the venue.

Winnipeg Church Finds Less is More with Danley Install

WINNIPEG, MB – Tom Castor, lead pastor at Grant Memorial Baptist Church, was seeking ideas on how to improve the sound system for the church's 1,500-seat sanctuary. He turned to his brother, Dan Castor, AV designer and consultant with Momentum Systems, based in Washington, DC, who recommended replacing the extensive existing system with fewer boxes from Danley Sound Labs. Danley's Ivan Beaver assisted with the final design, and D-Lite Productions installed the gear. Three Danley SH-96s cover most of the main floor. Below each one, a Danley SH-95 provides front fill. Below the center SH pair, two Danley TH-218 subs are flown for low-end support.
