Jovanotti Concert Stage Collapses; One Worker Killed, Eight Injured

TRIESTE, Italy — Scaffolding and truss crumpled at about 2 pm prior to a Dec. 12  rock concert featuring Jovanotti at the 6,943-seat PalaTrieste. The collapse killed one stage worker and injured eight others, according to press reports. About 20 workers had nearly completed construction of the structure for Jovanotti’s Ora Tour at the time of the accident. The worker who died at the scene, Francesco Pinna, 20, was a college student. Authorities and investigators restricted access to the venue and the concert was canceled.
