Audio Logic Uses d&b audiotechnik xA-Series for 97-Year-Old Church

CEDAR RAPIDS, IA – Audio Logic provided xA-Series loudspeakers from d&b audiotechnik’s White loudspeaker range for St. Paul’s United Methodist Church to address a double challenge: the semi-circular shape of the 97-year-old church’s sanctuary, and the restrictions preventing acoustical treatments from being used at the church, which was designed by architect Louis Sullivan and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The restrictions also led Audio Logic to create suspension systems concealed above the ceiling for the three clusters of gear that they installed.

ATLANTA – Steve Simmons, technical director for Perimeter Church, chose a Danley Sound Labs system for The Hanger, a 1,000-seat sanctuary popular with middle and high school students. The setup includes one Danley SH-96 flown wide on each side for left-right coverage, with a paired Danley SH-95 turned on its side for near-wall fill.

ELON, NC – Audio & Light, Inc. designed and installed an upgraded audio system for Elon University’s Whitley Auditorium that includes D.A.S. Audio’s Variant Series loudspeakers, with six Variant 25A loudspeakers and a single Variant 18A powered subwoofer in a central cluster configuration over the front of the room’s stage area.

BEE CAVE, TX – ZZ Top engineer Jamie “Jamo” Rephann used DiGiCo’s SD8 for the first annual La Grange Fest, where ZZ Top, Lynyrd Skynyrd and country singer Jamey Johnson all performed. The live event was also subsequently broadcast on Sirius XM radio.

LOS ANGELES — Todd Morgan, one of the founders of Jan-Al Cases, died on Dec. 20, 2011 after a long illness. He was 59. Prior to joining Jan and Muffie Alejandro, Morgan had worked at Studio Instrument Rentals (where he met Jan) and at Almo/Irving, a music publishing firm. CAMARILLO, CA — Rat Sound Systems Inc., which recently purchased a 22,000 square foot facility here, also announced an expansion of its inventory of audio gear. The additional gear includes a Midas XL8, a Midas Pro 9, 32 L-Acoustics SB28 subs, seven L-Acoustics LA Racks and 36 L-Acoustics KARA boxes.

OXNARD, CA — For its annual Living Christmas Tree program, Grace Bible Church recently added a Yamaha LS9-32 digital audio console to mix the six shows. The church, built in 1970, began The Living Christmas Tree program in 1973. Housed in a tree-like structure designed and built by several church members, the set can hold over 70 singers.

MONTREAL — Solotech equipped the new home for the Montreal Symphony Orchestra, La Maison Symphonique de Montréal, with a six-zone paging system that makes use of Symetrix SymNet-based signal processing. The system was designed by the venue’s acoustic designer, Artec Consultants.

BATON ROUGE, LA — Tim Landry, owner of Tim Landry Sound Construction, upgraded the audio system at the 13,500-seat Pete Maravich Assembly Center (PMAC), home of the  Louisiana State University Tigers basketball team, with Ashly Audio KLR-5000 amplifiers, ne24.24M processing and Sound Bridge loudspeakers.
