Korean Churches Install K-array Gear

ANSAN, South Korea — Soundenergy’s Giwook Cha worked with Sunbeom Kim of Soundus, K-array’s Korean distributor, on an audio system upgrade for Do-ha Methodist church here that included a K-array BlueLine KB1 speaker system. Soundenergy also steered the Noryangin church in Bon-dong, South Korea toward K-array gear — in this case, K-array’s Kobra KK102 (pictured here). Both church systems were chosen for sound quality as well as their ability to blend in visually with each church’s interior design.

Jazz In The Barn Concert Featuring Peter Appleyard Mixed with Lawo

TORONTO Canadian jazz vibraphonist Peter Appleyard celebrated his 85th birthday with a performance at his vintage barn in Nassagaweya Township, Ontario, which dates from 1895. The event was captured for posterity using a mc²56 MKII mixing console from Lawo. The console was also used for the live mix, and to drive a single loudspeaker to provide the pianist and vocalist with a monitor mix of the wind, brass, and bass signals.

Blackbird Academy Teams with Clair Global for Live Sound Training

NASHVILLE, TN – The Blackbird Academy, an educational facility being launched by Blackbird Studios owners John and Martina McBride, will be offering instruction in both studio and live sound engineering disciplines. The school will offer 24-week, 720-hour courses in studio recording (with a M-F schedule starting Sept. 30, 2013) and live sound engineering (starting January 6, 2014). The Live Sound Engineering program, created in association with Clair Global, promises to leverage Clair’s experience in live sound along with its audio gear.

In Memoriam: Timothy Dorwart

CHESTER, PA — Timothy Dorwart, CEO of Community Professional Loudspeakers, died July 15. Dorwart, who was named Community’s CEO in March, was credited with a successful turnaround at Stanton Group that began with his appointment as CEO there in 2007.  He also held director and VP positions with Bose Corporation and DMX Music. Dorwart came to Community from Gibson Guitar Corporation, where he held the position of General Manager, Pro Audio and guided the integration of Stanton Group assets to form Gibson’s new Pro Audio Division.
