Maryland Public Television Win Emmy for Concert Mixed on Calrec

HEBDEN BRIDGE, U.K. — Longtime Calrec customer Maryland Public Television (MPT) has won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Audio from the National Capital Chesapeake Bay Chapter of the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for its mix of “America’s Veterans: A Musical Tribute,” an hour-long concert that was broadcast live on Maryland Public Television in Fall 2012. In order to mix the award-winning production, MPT used both of its Alpha 40-fader consoles, with two operators per console.

Parnelli Nominations Close, Ballot Coming Soon

LAS VEGAS — It’s Oct. 1. It’s shut down. It won’t reopen until the middle of next year. No, we’re not talking about the Federal Government, just the Parnelli Awards’ Nominations form. The Parnelli Board of Advisors have reported to work as usual, and they’re now busily tallying September’s nominations and working toward the final Parnelli Awards ballot, which should be online later this week. Kennedy Center Concerts To Go On Despite Shutdown

WASHINGTON, DC — The Smithsonian’s museums, galleries and National Zoo were closed to visitors by the shutdown of the U.S. government on Oct. 1, as were the U.S. Capitol Visitor’s Center, National Mall, National Gallery of Art, Library of Congress and National Archives. But while the Kennedy Center is also limiting hours of visitor access, its concerts are going on, thanks in part to the private/public partnership that pays the bills.
