South Biscayne Church Installs D.A.S. Audio Loudspeaker System

NORTH PORT, FL – GC Pro worked with Event Resource Group on a sound reinforcement system for at South Biscayne Church. The system includes D.A.S. Event 208A 3-way active line arrays, Event 218A dual 18-inch powered subwoofers, Action M12A 2-way powered stage monitors and a DSP-26 stereo / mono processor for loudspeaker management. The gear was chosen for its solid throw, wide horizontal dispersion and vocal and music clarity.

VALPARAISO, IN — Natalie Cole headlined Valparaiso University’s 30th annual Jazz Fest, staged mid-April in the Athletics–Recreation Center of the Indiana school’s campus. Sound Works Productions, Inc. (Frankfort, IL) provided a 20-box NEXO GEO S12 line array, four PS10s used for side fills, and eight RS18 Ray Subs, all powered by NEXO 4×4 amplifiers. The soundco also supplied a Yamaha PM5D for monitors.

NEW YORK – The Visit opened at Broadway’s Lyceum Theatre on April 23 after being staged as part of the Williamstown Theater Festival in Williamstown, MA. Sound designer Dan Moses Schreier collaborated with Masque Sound on the musical’s custom audio equipment package for both productions.

NEW YORK — For a revival of Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical, The King and I, at Lincoln Center’s Vivian Beaumont Theater, Tony Award-winning sound designer Scott Lehrer worked with a custom audio equipment package from Masque Sound that included d&b audiotechnik loudspeakers (C7s for the mains, T10s and E6s for the front and rear balconies, Q1s for the rear orchestra and B4 subwoofers) and a Studer Vista 5 Digital Live Console.

MONROE, LA — Lyle Centola, 59, longtime production manager, site coordinator and rigger, died April 29. A key member of the Event Safety Alliance, Centola helped organize and stage major events ranging from Super Bowl halftime shows to a Veterans Day college basketball game held on the deck of an aircraft carrier. His career in live entertainment rigging and management began in the 1970s.

SALT LAKE CITY, UT — University of Utah’s Jon M. Huntsman Center, a 15,000-seat arena that serves as home to the school’s Runnin’ Utes basketball, Utes volleyball and Red Rocks gymnastic teams, recently wrapped up a massive $6M renovation project. When the dust finally settled, U of U’s largest sporting and entertainment venue featured two new grand entrances plus a new floor, drapes, LED lighting system and versatile house sound system comprised of L-Acoustics’ powerful Kara and high-directivity ARCS WiFo enclosures.

ASHBURN, VA — Quake Entertainment, an AV production, installation, management and communications company, recently purchased a Waveburg Pro loudspeaker system to enhance its capabilities for a wide range of events. The system includes eight LA-8 line array enclosures and four HL-118 ltr subs. The system is powered by two units Powersoft K10 DSP — one for subwoofer, one for mid-low and one unit K2 DSP for high frequency.
