MAIDSTONE, England – Since the long-running BBC Radio 1 Roadshow morphed into the One Big Weekend series of outdoor festival-style shows in 2000, the production values have progressively increased to a point where nothing less than the most cutting-edge audio systems are now acceptable. This year, four separate stages and thousands of music fans descended on Mote Park to enjoy a bill headlined by no less than Madonna herself. NBC Coverage of Beijing Olympic Games to Kick Off with DiGiCo

BEIJING – DiGiCo UK has been selected to provide several DS-00 digital consoles to NBC during the network’s coverage of the 2008 Beijing Olympics from Beijing, China, beginning Aug. 8. The announcement was made by Dave Mazza, senior vice president Engineering, NBC Olympics, and James Gordon, DiGiCo managing director. The DiGiCo consoles will support NBC’s coverage of basketball, boxing and indoor volleyball.

Boxing Match Brings More Punch with Outline

MANCHESTER, England – The match for the world boxing championship in front of an audience of 55,000 was amplified by “Butterfly”, the line array by Outline of Brescia (Italy). The contestants were Mexico’s Juan Lazcano and England’s Ricky Hatton (the latter won, thus retaining his IBO light-welterweight title).

Cinco De Mayo Festival Celebrates with JBL

SAN DIEGO — Showcasing the newest additions in JBL’s VerTec line array series, local rental company Meeting Services Inc. provided sound reinforcement for the La Fiesta Del Pueblo Cinco de Mayo music festival at the Del Mar Fairgrounds’ outdoor grandstand in San Diego with a powered, full-size system. Featured entertainers for the multi-act festival included popular Latin artists La Arrolladora Banda El Limon, Vilma Diaz y La Sonora, and Los Moonlights, among many others.

Never Forget Opens at Savoy Theatre with Cadac

LONDON – The musical Never Forget opened at The Savoy Theatre last week to an enthusiastic reception from Take That fans, and features sound design by Richard Brooker centered around an all-Cadac input chain.  The sound system incorporates a 94-input Cadac J-Type Live Production Console, Cadac D16 Digital Mix Matrices and M16 Remote Controlled Microphone Amplifiers, plus a large-scale Opus Audio loudspeaker rig.  The show made its move to the West End after a successful two-part UK tour, with sound equipment supplied by Blitz, and production engineering by Loh Humm Audio's Mark Cornwell.
