BERKELEY, CA — After winning the 2013 Grammy Song of the Year and Best New Artist awards, indie pop band fun’s “Most Nights” tour has been packing music venues across 34 North American cities throughout the summer. Montreal-based Solotech provided the tour with a Meyer Sound LEO linear large-scale sound reinforcement system.

Rock for Oklahoma Concert System Included JBL, Crown Components

OKLAHOMA CITY, OK — Oklahoma City’s Chesapeake Energy Arena recently hosted Rock for Oklahoma, a benefit concert for Oklahoma tornado victims that featured Kings of Leon, The Flaming Lips, Jackson Browne and Built to Spill. Concert audio was provided by Oklahoma City live sound rental contractor Miller Pro Audio. Owner Danny Miller and his crew, FOH Engineer Nick Walsh, Systems Engineer Aaron Oliver, and Systems Tech Kip Montgomery provided the PA with a system comprised of JBL loudspeakers and Crown amplifiers. Proceeds from the event benefited the United Way of Central Oklahoma May Tornadoes Relief Fund.

CIUDAD JUÁREZ, Mexico – The recently-completed Juárez Vive stadium here features an architectural design that suggest that the stadium is rising into the air. SAN FRANCISCO, CA – The West Coast premiere of the musical, 1776, is now playing at the American Conservatory Theater’s (A.C.T.)’s Geary Theater here through Oct. 6, 2013. The production, by Tony Award-winning director Frank Galati, features a sound design by Kevin Kennedy.  To complement the existing in-house audio equipment, Masque Sound provided a custom speaker package including Meyer UPM-1Ps and XTA speaker management processors and a monitor package of Aviom A-16II mixers and Aviom A-16D Pro Distribution systems. The system also includes Sennheiser wireless and cabled Shure and Neumann mics along with Radial DI’s.

Severe Weather Cancels Maroon 5/Kelly Clarkson Gig at the Gorge

QUINCY, WA — The 20,000-capacity Gorge Amphitheatre here, managed by Live Nation, was forced to cancel the show set for Sept. 28 featuring Maroon 5 and Kelly Clarkson due to “severe, unseasonable weather,” venue management noted on a Facebook posting, adding that it was the first weather-related cancellation at the venue in 27 years.

Rock the Bells Festival Canceled in DC, NYC

WASHINGTON, DC and NEW YORK — Guerilla Union, organizer of the Rock the Bells 2013 Festival Series, announced that the events planned for Washington DC (RFK Stadium Festival Grounds, Sept. 28-29) and the New York metro area (Meadowlands Race Track, Oct. 4-5) were canceled “due to a lack of ticket sales,” according to an announcement on the organizer’s website, rockthebells.net.
