LAS VEGAS — LDI’s annual conference and exhibition returned to the Las Vegas Convention Center Oct. 19-25, pulling in close to 10,000 from 88 countries to view lighting, staging and video gear. Audio? In the seminars, maybe, but on the show floor? Not so much. But there were still plenty of audio rental company owners visiting the booths, particularly those who have branched out beyond sound. BYRON BAY, Australia — In a recent posting on their Facebook page, Rock-It Cargo noted the passing of Alan “Esco” Escombe. Escombe, who joined Rock-It Cargo in 1985, joined the company after touring as a bass player with The Shake Spears in the mid-1960s and Fynn McCool in the late 1960s-early 1970s.
