FRANKFURT, Germany – Optocore and BroaMan recapped some of the highlights from the company’s booth during Prolight+Sound in Frankfurt. Noted for its slot car scale racetrack, the booth featured milestones from the company’s 20-year history right up to the present, including news about the companies’ products targeting the Broadcast, System Integration and Concert market sectors. As for the latter, the big news was Wigwam Acoustics’ use of Optocore to support the AV needs of Coldplay’s forthcoming 2016 tour, which kicks off May 24 in Nice, France.

PRAGUE — Italy-based Outline named Primaton s.r.o. as their exclusive distributor for the Czech and Slovak Republics. Primaton, based in Prague, is affiliated with LightNeq, which distributes brands from MA Lighting, Robe, ARRI, Doughty and other lighting products. The company had been looking to complement its support of shows in the region with high quality audio products. T-Mobile Arena Opens in Las Vegas with Martin Audio MLA System

LAS VEGAS — The new T-Mobile Arena recently opened with a gala event featuring Las Vegas natives The Killers, Wayne Newton, Shamir, Blue Man Group and Cirque du Soleil, among others. Delicate Productions made use of a Martin Audio MLA system to ensure consistent coverage throughout the new venue. The Killers setup included 16 MLA and 2 MLD cabinets per side for the main hang, 20 MLA Compact per side for outfills and 32 MLX subs. Delicate’s crew used an MLA system that had been set up for a soft opening performance by Martina McBride the week before by 3G Productions.

Paul Carrack Tours U.K. with ProAudio Technology VT20 System

BIRMINGHAM, U.K. — Paul Carrack, whose voice is heard on Squeeze’s “Tempted” and other hits, including his own hit, “Don’t Shed a Tear” from his solo album, One Good Reason, toured the U.K. earlier this year with a P.A. system centered on ProAudio Technology’s VT20 line array system. Isophase Audio provided the gear for the 34-date tour. At stops like the Birmingham Symphony Hall, the setup included 32 VT20 elements and eight VS18 subwoofers for the main P.A. with four HT16 Tops for near fills. Only two Delta 20.4-DSP amplifiers were needed to power the 32 VT20 main array elements.

NASHVILLE —Solotech announced April 18 that it has opened a new office in Nashville, TN. Led by Paul Owen, the office will develop new business opportunities in international touring and special events. More Bands and Artists Cancel NC Gigs

RALEIGH, NC — Along with Bruce Springsteen, who announced April 8 that he and the E Street Band would not perform the April 10 concert slated for Greensboro, NC to protest the state’s HB2 “bathroom law,” other bands and artists have spoken out against the law, canceled shows or announced that proceeds from shows performed would go to LGBT causes. Those canceling gigs include Ringo Starr, Boston’s Tom Scholz and Pearl Jam’s Eddie Vedder. Others vowing to steer clear of the state include Dead & Company and Cirque du Soleil.

ACM Awards Features Audio-Technica Endorsing Artists

LAS VEGAS — The 51st Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards, broadcast live on CBS from the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas on April 3, featured two Audio-Technica endorsing artists — Entertainer of the Year winner Jason Aldean (a two-category nominee, pictured here), and Single Record of the Year winner Thomas Rhett (a three-category nominee). Each performed using Audio-Technica’s Artist Elite 5000 Series UHF Wireless System with the AEW-T6100a Hypercardioid Dynamic Handheld Transmitter during the course of the show.
