Rock the Bells Festival Gets Into the Groove with Yamaha

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Few events can claim to both capture and define a movement, yet this is precisely what the Rock the Bells Festival has done since its inception in 2003. Rock the Bells is more than a music festival; it has become a genuine rite of passage for thousands of core, social, conscious and independent Hip Hop enthusiasts. The tour has been using two Yamaha PM5D digital audio consoles.

TORONTO — FreedomFest is an annual community event that celebrates freedom and those who have sacrificed their lives maintaining that freedom. Matthew West, the multi-Dove award nominee and sought-after songwriter who catapulted onto the Christian music scene in 2003, headlined the event. Adamson and Hire Company Atomic Professional Audio based in Rutland, Vt., sponsored the 2008 concert sound system. Adamson concurrently hosted a clinic on sound system design and technology aimed for church facilities of all sizes and styles of worship.

BOSTON — A mainstay in Copley Square for 18 years, the Hard Rock Cafe Boston has opened its doors in the historic Faneuil Hall area on Clinton Street.  It is one of the city's largest entertainment destinations with more than 16,000 square feet of space including a 514-seat restaurant, the Cavern Club, which features Live Music, not to mention a collection of iconic rock ‘n’ roll instruments.

BUDAPEST — Europe's summer festival season offers an abundance of riches, but Budapest's Sziget Festival stands out as one of its largest and most musically diverse. Held on an island in the Danube, the weeklong festival featured smashing performances by icons ranging from Róisín Murphy to Alanis Morissette, REM and Iron Maiden. With nonstop entertainment at more than 20 different venues and an audience of 385,000 fans, the organizers enlisted a total of more than 400 Meyer Sound loudspeakers to cover the festival's largest stages.

Rick Goddard of the U.S. Air Force (ret) and U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell, among others, culminated with a major speech by Republican Presidential candidate Sen. John McCain.

BUENA PARK, Calif. — Eight years after Linkin Park released their first CD, the band has embarked again on the Projekt Revolution Tour. This time around, monitor engineer Kevin “Tater” McCarthy has taken along the new Yamaha DSP5D Expander for use in conjunction with a PM5D monitor console.

LONDON — Norwegian band Secret Garden finished off this year’s tour with a special concert including a symphony orchestra. This wasthe first show with the new Soundcraft Vi Series V3.0 software in use. The last concert of the tour was a special outdoor show incorporating a 27-piece symphony orchestra in the band’s hometown of Kristiansand, Norway. With the orchestra and nine musicians/singers on stage, the need for more than 64 channels was obvious.
