BML-Blackbird Brings Events to Life with JBL

NEW YORK — BML-Blackbird Theatrical Services recently installed a JBL audio system at the new Espace entertainment space in Manhattan. Located in midtown Manhattan on 42nd Street, Espace (pronounced es-pah’-chay) is a modern events venue that holds up to 500 people for seated dinners and 1,000 people for standing receptions. The 10,000-square-foot space hosts a variety of events including fashion shows, corporate functions and fundraisers.
 

PHILADELPHIA — Philadelphia's local music scene has produced a number of respected performers in genres ranging from jazz to hip-hop Philly's eclectic homegrown musical mix now finds a permanent place for onstage expression at World Café Live. Clair Brothers, Acoustic Dimensions of Dallas and New York, and Philadelphia-based Metropolitan Acoustics, jointly crafted the audio blueprint implemented throughout the facility. A Midas Legend 3000 console is used to drive a house PA built around proprietary Clair Brothers loudspeakers. Shure mics are used onstage.

Robbins is known for his high-energy delivery. LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The 37th Ryder Cup competition, described by some as the Super Bowl of golf, was big news in the world of international sports as the U.S. reclaimed the title this year for the first time since 1999. Lou Castelluci, NMR Staging and Events director of audio, spec’d a DiGiCo CS-D5 for the production to manage over 24 inputs of video, myriad wireless mics, recording/playback functions and outputs for both the live audience and broadcast recording decks.

JBL has introduced the EON500 series of self-powered and lightweight speakers. There are three models in the new EON product range. Each of the full-range EON500 series compact, lightweight models features an on-board mini-mixer with loop-thru or mix-out capability, allowing for greater control of the loudspeaker’s output. The EON500 series loudspeakers also offer selectable EQ, multiple suspension points, soft-grip handle and a full screened backed grille for extra component protection.

GERMANY — Audio rental company BLL-Veranstaltungstechnik, based in the city of Krefeld, Germany, has undertaken a number of summer events with its Flex Array system complementing its large inventory of Turbosound Aspect and NuQ loudspeakers.

HUNTINGTON BEACH, Calif. — Comprised of professional surfing, BMX, skateboarding, freestyle motocross demos, live music and a fashion show, Go211 Live’s recently completed U.S. Open of Surfing offered something for everyone. The event included a fashion show and three days of music that included performances by a wide range of artists — including teen heartthrob Jesse McCartney. Held on the beach, sound reinforcement was a massive undertaking that was handled by Torrance, Calif.-based Broadcast Support and a sizeable collection of loudspeakers from DAS Audio. 

INDIANOLA, Miss. — The B.B. King Museum and Delta Interpretive Center opened Sept. 13 with a three-day celebration and a historic, Peavey-powered concert that paired the blues legend with several of the marquee artists he has inspired.
