CHICAGO — Sensaphonics noted recently that while Soundgarden is a holdout with a preference for traditional monitor wedges, singer/songwriter Chris Cornell has made the move to in-ear monitors and is currently touring with the company’s 3D Active Ambient system. Sensaphonics further notes that monitor engineer Martin Strayer, pictured here, is pleased with Cornell’s choice of gear.

AMSTERDAM — On April 30, Crown Prince Willem-Alexander, 46, became King of The Netherlands as his mother, Queen Beatrix, stepped down from the throne at age 75 after a 33-year reign.  The festivities marking the occasion included a 35-minute outdoor concert pairing the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra with Dutch DJ Armin van Buuren. Beachsound Uses Lake Processing at Miami’s Ultra Music Festival

MIAMI — Among the companies providing technical support for the multi-stage Ultra Music Festival in Miami in March were Beachsound, which provided Lake processors along with other audio gear. Neil Rosenstock, head of audio at Beachsound, credited the flexibility of the four LM 44s – three at FOH and one at monitors – for enabling the crew to use “a combination of Dante and AES routing between the units.”
