Dunkin’ Donuts Center’s Sound Sweetened with Audio Upgrade

PROVIDENCE, RI – The 13,000-capacity Dunkin’ Donuts Center, home to the American Hockey League’s Providence Bruins and Providence College Men’s Basketball, also hosts corporate events, trade shows, commencements and concerts. Extensively remodeled in 2008, the venue was recently upgraded further with loudspeakers, power amplifiers and digital routing systems from Electro-Voice.

The Waves Scheps 73 is a 3-band EQ modeled on the classic 1073 console EQ and mic preamp module and developed in association with well-known mixing engineer Andrew Scheps (Adele, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Black Sabbath, Lana Del Rey, Metallica, Jay-Z). Using new technologies to model the Marinair transformer, Waves says its Scheps 73 plug-in meticulously captures all the sonic characteristics of the 1073, including its harmonic distortion, whose overtones were tweaked by Andrew Scheps himself.

Vancouver’s Chan Centre Upgrades with 360-Degree Meyer Sound CAL System

VANCOUVER, BC — With an assist from GerrAudio, Sapphire Sound of Abbotsford, BC updated the sound system for the 1,185-seat Chan Shun Concert Hall within the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts here with a 360-degree system comprised of six steerable CAL column array loudspeakers from Meyer Sound. Toronto-based Engineering Harmonics’ Martin Van Dijk designed the system and Paul Alegado served as project manager. The new system is credited with a dramatic improvement in both vocal clarity and sound distribution.
