DPA Microphones Shines Bright at the 88th OSCARS

HOLLYWOOD – When Hollywood’s biggest stars came together to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements at the 88th annual OSCARS at the Dolby Theater, Orchestra Setup Coordinator Dan Vicari once again relied on DPA Microphones. Vicari deployed DPA’s d:dicate 4011A Cardioid Microphones and d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones to amplify the large orchestra’s sound from its location under the stage and for the studio pre-records. In all, Vicari used two d:dicate 4011As and seventeen d:vote 4099 microphones for the production.

FBT Speakers Deployed at Bernie Sanders Rally in Colorado

FORT COLLINS, CO – Colorado State University (CSU) hosted a rally for presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders within the college’s 8,745-capacity Moby Arena. To complement the arena’s existing sound system, which provided coverage for those in the stands, Shaped Music Productions set up four FBT EvoMaxX 4a units.  Shaped Music owner Rich Werdes credited the speakers for delivering higher-quality sound than similarly-priced P.A. alternatives. The speakers enhanced the audio for those on the gym’s main floor, which included members of the press.

Wet Wet Wet Deliver On Tour with dLive

LEEDS, UK – Allen & Heath’s dLive digital mixing system is currently being employed by front of house engineer Steve Pattison on Wet Wet Wet’s UK headline tour, which recently included a date at London’s O2 arena.  Supplied by SSE Hire for the tour, the flagship dLive S7000 control surface is partnered with Allen & Heath’s DM64 MixRack to handle an on-stage line-up that comprises the Scottish four-piece’s traditional backline, multiple vocals and horn section. L-Acoustics Flies High With Cirque du Soleil’s Amaluna

LONDON – Ever since the first use of a PA system beneath its domed roof, London’s Royal Albert Hall has been a famously difficult gig for mixing engineers, due to its circular construction, which results in a highly reverberant space. Thanks to L-Acoustics, however, Amaluna is maintaining a grand tradition of great-sounding Cirque du Soleil shows at the venue. Britannia Row Productions created an L-Acoustics Kara sound system comprising a main system of six hangs of 12 Kara, with two SB18 subs on two of the arrays and two stacks of three ARCS Focus as floor fills for the seating area directly around the stage.

Jennifer Lopez Uses Shure KSM8 with Axient Wireless for First Vegas Residency

LAS VEGAS — For her first Las Vegas residency, “All I Have,” Jennifer Lopez used Shure’s KSM8 Dualdyne cardioid dynamic vocal microphone with Shure’s Axient wireless system. The first leg of the 2016 residency, at Planet Hollywood’s AXIS Theater, included 10 performances that ran Jan. 20-Feb. 9. The next legs run from May 22-June 12, July 20-Aug. 13 and Dec. 9-17. The audio team supporting J-Lo’s shows also used a Shure Axient AXT610 ShowLink access point to enable the system’s frequency diversity capability with full remote transmitter control to guard against interference and dropouts.
