DPA Microphones Shines Bright at the 88th OSCARS

HOLLYWOOD – When Hollywood’s biggest stars came together to recognize excellence in cinematic achievements at the 88^th annual OSCARS at the Dolby Theater, Orchestra Setup Coordinator Dan Vicari once again relied on DPA Microphones. Vicari deployed DPA’s d:dicate 4011A Cardioid Microphones and d:vote 4099 Instrument Microphones to amplify the large orchestra’s sound from its location under the stage and for the studio pre-records. In all, Vicari used two d:dicate 4011As and seventeen d:vote 4099 microphones for the production.

FORT COLLINS, CO – Colorado State University (CSU) hosted a rally for presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders within the college’s 8,745-capacity Moby Arena. To complement the arena’s existing sound system, which provided coverage for those in the stands, Shaped Music Productions set up four FBT EvoMaxX 4a units.  Shaped Music owner Rich Werdes credited the speakers for delivering higher-quality sound than similarly-priced P.A. alternatives. The speakers enhanced the audio for those on the gym’s main floor, which included members of the press.

EL PASO, TX––The Speaking Rock Entertainment Center, Owned by the Tigua Indians of the Ysleta del Sur Pueblo, recently combined a Stageline SL260 mobile stage with a Martin Audio MLA loudspeaker system to bring the highest quality sound to outdoor concert events, water parks and multiple stage festivals.

LAS VEGAS — For her first Las Vegas residency, “All I Have,” Jennifer Lopez used Shure’s KSM8 Dualdyne cardioid dynamic vocal microphone with Shure’s Axient wireless system. The first leg of the 2016 residency, at Planet Hollywood’s AXIS Theater, included 10 performances that ran Jan. 20-Feb. 9. The next legs run from May 22-June 12, July 20-Aug. 13 and Dec. 9-17. The audio team supporting J-Lo’s shows also used a Shure Axient AXT610 ShowLink access point to enable the system’s frequency diversity capability with full remote transmitter control to guard against interference and dropouts.

KNOXVILLE, TENNESSEE – Recently, Pellissippi State Community College further enhanced its technical and teaching capabilities when it acquired and installed a DiGiCo S21 digital console at the school’s Bagwell Center for Media and Art. There, the S21 is the pinnacle of several audio recording, mixing, editing and production courses designed to provide the students with a well-rounded and extensive grounding in professional audio for applications including sound for picture, post-production, broadcast and live sound.

DICKSON, TENNESSEE – Bethany Retreat House’s modest campus is now complete with the construction of a dedicated 150 seat chapel. Audio-video integration firm Southeastern Sound Inc. (Nashville) designed and installed a robust, high-fidelity sound reinforcement system using Ashly Audio modular Protea processing, multi-channel amplification, and simple fader-style user control that is easy for anyone to operate with confidence.

SAN FRANCISCO – San Francisco Opera (SF Opera) is the first opera company to rely upon Constellation. Located in the newly renovated Diane B. Wilsey Center for Opera, the 299-seat Atrium Theater is designed for multiple configurations, providing both performer and audience members with a very personal approach to opera. Constellation’s unique ability to shape acoustics on demand allows SF Opera to expand from traditional theatre-style seating to cabaret settings with café tables and in-the-round performances, or even edgier configurations.
