L-Acoustics Brings Immersive Audio to Orlando’s Blue Man Group

ORLANDO – Orlando’s Blue Man Group upgraded its sound system at its CityWalk location to an L-Acoustics Kara system from Clearwing Productions. Says Blue Man Group Sound Supervisor Marcus Ross, “What this system design accomplishes is to get total coverage of the room and allow movement of the sound from front to back and side to side. It’s a full surround sound system and you get incredible localization of the sound throughout the show.”

China Celebrates 30 Years of Rock with EAW

BEIJING – An Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) Adaptive Performance system reinforced the Music Power Rock China 30 tour. The venue for the tour launch was a challenging place, says FOH engineer Jim Ebdon. So the seating area dimensions for the Beijing Workers Stadium were plugged into EAW’s Resolution software, which determined the ideal three-dimensional wavefront for the desired area. From there the software communicated with the Anya modules to provide precise coverage.

Beyonce Tours with DiGiCo SD7s

DETROIT Eighth Day Sound is providing sound reinforcement for Beyonce’s Formation tour, which trekked from south Florida in late April to Detroit in mid-June before heading overseas for the rest of the summer. (It returns to North America for more shows in September and October.) The massive 56-truck truck tour is traveling with three DiGiCo SD7 audio consoles, keeping a potential cabling nightmare manageable with a strategic setup of fiber loops and DiGiCo SD-Racks.

Arts Brookfield Reinforces Winter Garden with Martin Audio

NEW YORK CITY – Arts Brookfield uses a Martin Audio MLA Compact system to reinforce an eclectic mix of concerts, festivals, symphonies and other artistic events in the Winter Garden at Brookfield Place in Lower Manhattan. Mark Torchia, technical director for Arts Brookfield, says, “The Winter Garden is challenging because it’s a huge, reverberant glass dome that traps all of the sounds within it including ambient noise from the retail outlets. We chose MLA because of the control offered by the system that lets us put the sound where it needs to be and avoid areas where we don’t want it.”
