Glastonbury Festival Rocks England with HK Audio

PILTON, England – England’s Glastonbury Festival is unquestionably Europe’s biggest festival. In fact, there is no event like it anywhere in the world, not only because of the 150,000 visitors who make the pilgrimage to the sleepy hamlet near Oxford. What makes this gathering unique is its countless stages big and small, outdoors and in tents. The three-day festival featured some 500 bands, artists, and DJs representing every conceivable style and genre, among them acts such as Jay-Z, The Verve, Franz Ferdinand, Joan Baez, Leonard Cohen and Massive Attack.

LAS VEGAS – For the first time in 17 years, mega popstar George Michael heads to North America, bringing the smash “25 Live” tour to arenas this summer. In promotion of his latest Twenty Five recording, the North American segment is the third leg of Michael’s worldwide tour, the first two having covered 12 European countries in 80 shows for an estimated 1.3 million fans over the past year.

HOLLYWOOD, Calif. – Harman Pro Group was selected to provide components for a brand new PA system for the 1,000-seat auditorium at Hollywood High School, which has earned a far-reaching reputation for its progressive and prolific drama program. The sound system was designed and installed by Richard Ralke, president of L.A. Sound Company in Canoga Park and features JBL Professional VerTec line array loudspeakers, Crown I-Tech amplifiers and a Soundcraft Vi4 mixing console.
 

BALTIMORE, Md. – In an incredible feat of resilience, 500,000 Volts of electricity struck a Soundcraft FX16 audio console during a sideshow gone awry at the Baltimore Tattoo Convention in Baltimore City, Md., and the show was able to continue. While providing sound reinforcement on the first day of this three-day expo of tattoo artists and live performances, Airport Circle Sound Reinforcement, LLC was faced with an unexpected bolt of lightning that discharged from a performer’s Tesla Coil into the Soundcraft mixer.  

BUENA PARK, Calif. – This summer marks number 10 for Ringo Starr’s All Starr outing and includes returning All Starr members (in alphabetical order): Colin Hay, Billy Squier, Hamish Stuart and Edgar Winter, and first timers Gary Wright and Gregg Bissonette. The All Starr tour is currently bringing its newest chart-topping lineup to 31 cities in the U.S. and Canada, including New York, Boston, Chicago and Los Angeles. LAS VEGAS — The Parnelli Awards Board of Directors has announced that Roy Clair and Gene Clair will be receiving this year’s Parnelli Audio Innovator Award honoring their decades in the live entertainment industry. Having built the formable sound touring company, Clair Bros., into one of the biggest in the industry, the two will be honored for their work, innovations and contributions at a gala award ceremony, Oct. 24, in Las Vegas.
