OLD LYME, Conn. – Singer and songwriter Jewel is back in the spotlight, promoting a new country music album, Perfectly Clear, and hitting the road for a lengthy U.S. tour with Brad Paisley following some TV promotion, including appearances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel Live. Jewel, who was famously discovered while performing solo in the coffee shops of San Diego, first adopted Neumann’s KMS 105 on her 2006 tour with matchbox 20 singer Rob Thomas, and is once again using the wired vocal mic with her new five-piece band.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Allen & Heath’s iLive-80 digital console along with an iDR-8 digital zone mixer and 6 remote control PL Series wall plates were installed at the Childrena’s Theater of Annapolis as part of a full audio system recently completed by Dennis Wilson at Audio Plus.

The Community M12 stage monitor has been redesigned. In response to customer feedback, Community has improved the M12 with rubber pocket grip handles for portability, and a larger, easier-to-access connector base. The ergonomically designed stage monitors feature recessed handles designed to simplify lifting and carrying by both handles or just one.

OXNARD, Calif. – Radiohead, a longtime L-ACOUSTICS user, has returned to the road this summer in support of its latest album, In Rainbows. Firehouse Productions of Red Hook, NY, is serving as the sound provider for the US tour legs, with Wigwam Acoustics of Heywood (Manchester), UK, handling the European dates.

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. – Clair Showco of Lititz, PA, recently provided a Studer Vista 5 SR console for country music star Keith Urban’s U.S. tour. The multi-city tour featured Studer Vista 5 SR digital audio consoles in use for both FOH and monitor mixing applications.

OTTAWA, Ontario – The Ottawa Bluesfest has grown into the largest blues festival in Canada and the second largest in North America, annually attracting around 300,000 music fans. SEOUL, KOREA, — A recent installation of Aviom gear at the University of Ulsan ice rink proves that you don’t have to sacrifice sound quality when transporting audio over long distances.  The Korean university wanted a way to send audio from its radio station/studio to remote clusters of speakers in its ice rink over a stretch of some 500 feet/150 meters. Transporting audio signals over such an expanse without sacrificing quality often presents system designers and contractors with a challenge and end users with expensive options.  This project at the University of Ulsan was no different.  

MIDLAND, Texas – Built in 1929 and designated a Texas State Historical Landmark, the Yucca Theatre in Midland, Texas, is home to the Midland Community Theatre and its “Summer Mummers,” a locally-produced and written show that harks back to the golden age of Vaudeville. The Yucca’s new Electro-Voice XLCi 127DVX sound system is ensuring this unique production sounds better than ever for its 60th anniversary in 2008. The EV system was designed by FitzCo Sound, Inc. (Midland, Texas) and installed by Midland Community Theatre personnel (supervised by Technical Director/Sound & Lighting Designer Eddie Taylor).
