SSR, DiGiCo, Wigwam Join Forces to Educate New Engineers

ENGLAND — For 25 years, Manchester’s School of Sound Recording (SSR) has delivered technical training and education for the music and A/V industries. It has a comprehensive set of courses on offer, the shortest being only an hour, the longest a three year BSc in Sound Engineering. The school has a number of the industry’s leading companies playing an active role in its development and recently saw DiGiCo join those ranks by opening the DiGiCo Room, equipped with a DS-00 console.
 

NEW YORK — A perennial holiday attraction, The Big Apple Circus has been delighting NYC children for over 30 years. The combination of clowns, acrobats, jugglers and equestrians is complimented by live music ranging from jazz to rock, disco to classical. This year, in addition to new performers, the show added RockNet 300, a 21st Century audio distribution system to the troop.

ATLANTA — Greater Atlanta’s 12Stone Church recently expanded their Lawrenceville campus with a new state-of-the-art, 2,600-seat worship center, a 600-seat high school worship center, a 300-seat middle school worship center and two additional 150-seat worship centers for grade school and pre-school. The stadium-style main auditorium features a thrust stage with seating that bends an astounding 220-degrees to accentuate 12Stone’s engaging services. In addition to expanding their facilities, 12Stone expanded its Sennheiser gear with 25 wireless microphone and 18 wireless personal monitoring channels.

CHICAGO — The world listened as President-elect Barack Obama delivered his historic acceptance speech to nearly a quarter million supporters at Chicago’s Grant Park. Thanks to a sound system design and deployment by CLAIR Chicago, every word was heard clearly via an Electro-Voice X-Line PA and Midas mixing consoles.

Yamaha’s TXn series amplifiers are designed to deliver sonic quality and two-ohm drive capability. The TXn series consists of the TX4n, TX5n and TX6n, which deliver 2,200, 2,500 and 3,000 watts per channel into two ohms. All three TXn models incorporate a 24-bit 96-kHz DSP engine that provides a range of control and processing capabilities. In addition to basic amplifier control and status monitoring, speaker processing capabilities are available that will make outboard equipment such as equalisers, delays and speaker processors unnecessary in most applications.

TORONTO — PA Plus provided live sound reinforcement for “Heaven’s Rehearsal,” a multi-denominational musical event that featured a house band, full orchestra and 500-member choir. The event took place at the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Canada.  

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — Resorts International Casino Hotel is located at the northern end of the famed Boardwalk in Atlantic City, N.J., along with eight other of Atlantic City's 12 casinos. Recently, the property’s Superstar Theater upgraded its front-of-house position with a Yamaha PM1D digital audio console installed by ACIR Professional in Egg Harbor Township, N.J. The 1,350-seat, 17,500-square-foot entertainment venue features headliners like Jerry Seinfeld, Whoopi Goldberg, Tom Jones, Don Rickles, Snoop Dogg, Aaron Lewis and Chris Isaak, to name a few. 

NEW YORK — A vibrant sanctuary and worship center on New York's Lower East Side, the City Light Church urges its followers to "Rediscover Life" in a relaxed and casual, multicultural environment. Recently, the church set out to upgrade the audio system for their coffee shop/cabaret venue that holds a number of music and open-mic events as part of City Light's approach.

BERLIN — With the new O2 World Arena that opened recently in Berlin, Anschutz Entertainment Group (AEG) has set the template for a versatile, high-performing sports and entertainment facility. Harman audio technologies were integrated into the arena.

GREENVILLE, Texas —  MercyMe, the multiple Dove Award-winning, Grammy-nominated Christian rock band, are currently on tour in support of their latest album, teaming up with fellow guitarists Scheuchzer and Barry Graul onstage using Shure UHF-R wireless.

CARSON, Calif. — Peace Apostolic Church in Carson, Calif. has installed an Allen & Heath iLive-112 Digital Mixing System in the 900-seat main worship hall and a GL2800 in the adjacent 300-seat Fellowship hall. Handling multiple services each week in addition to rehearsals, bible studies and other events, the iLive system is configured with 40 inputs and 32 outputs in the Mix Rack with an additional eight inputs and outputs on the Control Surface.
