Readers who vote will be the ones narrowing the field from 36 to just six regional winners. These finalists will then appear on the Parnelli Awards ballot, for a second round of voting to determine which company gets named the Parnelli Hometown Hero Sound Company of the Year at the awards ceremony in Anaheim, CA on Jan. 25, 2019.

University of the Nations Campus in Kona, HI Installs New RCF System

KONA, HI – The University of the Nations (U of N) is a Christian university with branches in 600 locations in 142 countries. Operated by the nonprofit Youth With A Mission (YWAM) organization, the U of N campus in Kona, HI is one of the largest. Orlando, FL-based Owens Audio Video Design updated the sound system they installed nearly a decade ago at U of N/Kona’s Ohana Court, which serves as an outdoor worship space and basketball court, with an RCF HDL10-A system.

In Memoriam: Larry Melero, 50

LA MIRADA, CA – Touring instrument/amp tech Lauro “Larry” Melero died Sept. 22, 2018 of an apparent heart attack. He was 50. Melero took up guitar at the age of 10 and later played in various bands before industrial metal band Static-X hired him to go out on tour as a guitar tech. He went on to enhance the sound at shows for a long roster of artists including Cheap Trick, George Benson, Incubus, Gwen Stefani and Godsmack, among others.
