The April 5 concert at Columbia, SC’s 18,000-seat Colonial Life Arena was the fulfillment of Darius Rucker’s promise to his alma mater, the University of South Carolina. Rucker had pledged during the 2016 fall football season that if the USC Gamecocks won six games or more, he would perform a free show at the venue, which is home to Gamecocks basketball games.
