You’ve probably noticed this, but FRONT of HOUSE has expanded greatly over the past year, and to help keep up, this month, we’ve added audio pro Steve Savanyu to our staff as technical editor. With a resume ranging from bread-and-butter local sound gigs for his Buford T. Hedgehog company to major productions including U.S. presidential debates, inaugurations, festivals, sporting events, Papal visits, trade shows and massive outdoor hot-air balloon air races, The Akron Symphony Orchestra, Cleveland Pops Orchestra and more, he’s pretty much done it all. He’s also devoted years to audio education, from his popular “Stepping up the Stream” event live-streaming article series (FOH cover story, May 2020) to his previous 25 years as the Director-Educational Services at Audio-Technica U.S.
Savanyu holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Science-Electronics Engineering from Youngstown State University. His hobbies include modding and restoring vintage audio gear, and he loves attending pro audio tradeshows. Say hello if you see him checking out gear on a show floor … and welcome to the FOH team!
