Tale of Two Tradeshows

Share this Post:

Having experienced CES Las Vegas, Anaheim NAMM and ISE Barcelona earlier this year, we now are well into the tradeshow season. Usually, such events are held at least a few weeks apart. And while the interval between this year’s NAMM (Jan. 21-25) and ISE (Feb. 4-7) shows was rather tight, it was certainly manageable for any dedicated — yet slightly jet-lagged — attendees seeking to visit both expos.

Not so with last month’s NAB in Las Vegas (April 5-9, 2025) and the 30th Annual Prolight + Sound (April 8-11 in Frankfurt). It could be argued that these overlapping shows serve two diverse and different markets. Although that is largely true, there are wide categories of audio products represented on their show floors that serve both broadcast and live event production. Among these are hardwired and wireless mic and IEM systems, intercoms, digital consoles and IP / networking technologies.

Despite a seemingly perilous and ever-changing global trade market, both NAB and PL + S were highly successful (see pages 20 and 21). Most attendees were seeking tools, not toys — and focused on new directions in technology, such as navigating the new wireless landscape.

And just when you thought it was safe to go back into the (tradeshow) water, the InfoComm pro AV tradeshow returns to Orlando’s cavernous Orange County Convention Center from June 7-13, with exhibits from June 11-13. The show is massive, and to help you navigate the aisles, we’ll feature dozens of “must-see” new product debuts in next month’s FRONT of HOUSE. For more about InfoComm, visit www.infocommshow.org.

Until then, travel safe!
