WESTLAKE VILLAGE, CA – Q: Does Blue Microphones use its own sales guys or outside sales reps? A: Yes. The company announced that for the pro audio reseller channel, it is taking a hybrid approach, with its own reps working some territories, and independent rep firms handling other areas.
Ben Thompkins and Jonathan von Retzell will be responsible for the western and central territories, respectively, as Technical Sales Representatives (TSRs). Blue also hired New York-based Danny Garcia as the eastern regional TSR. As company employees, this team of TSRs will oversee sales as well as provide professional technical assistance within their territories.
Blue has also teamed up with three independent sales rep firms. Located near West Palm Beach, Meyer Marketing will be responsible for the state of Florida and Puerto Rico. Benchmark Audio Sales will represent Blue in New England and Dallas-based Marketing Concepts will cover Texas, Oklahoma, Louisiana and Arkansas.
"While the vast majority of our competitors have shrunk their sales teams over the past few years, Blue has decided to up the ante," said Dino Virella, Blue's sales director. "Our unique combination of factory TSRs and independent reps will allow us to continue the tremendous growth we've experienced in the past few years. Our dealers have been the cornerstone of this growth and we remain committed to them by making these changes and appointments ensuring that we don't lose momentum despite a challenging economy."
Blue is expanding its sales organization to support recent and projected new growth of its product lines in professional audio, live sound, and consumer electronics. In late 2009, Blue capitalized on their success in the recording market and entered the live sound market with the Encore 100 and 200 stage microphones. At the Winter NAMM show in January, they then added two new models to this new line, the Encore 300 and 100i, to be shipping in late Q1.
