SEATTLE – Soundcraft is sponsoring a series of educational sessions that will visit 50 cities across the U.S. from mid-January to the end of March. Conducted by Superb Event Training, it is titled "Win Over Your Band AND Your Audience – How to Create A Unique and Sophisticated Audio Mix Using Principles of Three-Dimensional Sound."
The course was created for intermediate to advanced live sound engineers. Topics include the properties of how ears localize sound, how those properties form the principles and techniques of three-dimensional mixing and how to create and evaluate three-dimensional mixes by using those techniques. Participants will have the opportunity to perform mix examples in front of the class on Soundcraft's Si3 Digital Mixer.
John Rensink, owner of Superb Event Training, teaches the course. "I want students to take away the maximum from each class, and have a great time while doing that," Rensink said. "Most students who will take this course have some mix time under their belts. They have their own skill-sets and philosophies that they bring to the table. My goal for them is to integrate what they learn in this class into their everyday practice."
Rensink added, "Mixes begin with our ears and end with the audience and band's ears. By shifting our focus to how people hear our mixes, and to how we can manipulate mix elements to follow the ear's natural cues that say ‘that is far away' or ‘this is 5 feet from me on my right hand side,' we make big strides in both making our mix elements to do what we want them to do and creating a distinct focus that our listeners get – and get right off the bat.

They want to serve their audiences and bands with great shows.
