WIXOM, MI — Signature Professional Group (SPG), which produces municipal summer concert series in Plymouth, Northville and Wixom, Mich., recently added Port Huron to the list. SPG will produce five Thursday night shows for the Port Huron Rockin’ the Rivers series in August. “We went with SPG because of the recommendation of other municipalities and SPG’s commitment to giving Port Huron personal attention,” said Nancy Winzer, a Port Huron Parks and Recreation representative.
Sam Walton, SPG senior manager, said Port Huron can expect shows that are “exciting, fun and professionally produced” without “significantly increasing their existing budget,” crediting SPG's 15 years experience.
Along with Music In the Air, the Plymouth concert series SPG started producing in the early 1990s, SPG is in its third year with both Northville (Summer Friday Night Concerts) and Wixom (Village Center Summer Concerts).
Rockin’ the Rivers starts Aug. 6 with the Aaron Vaughan Band and continues with Fifty Amp Fuse, Randy Brock Group, Redhill and Trilogy, followed by another show in September.
“I think the benefit to the downtown area will be tourism and a great event the community can take pride in,” Winzer said. “We are hoping to attract many people to this new venue and draw large crowds for our five shows.”
