ORLANDO — Sennheiser will introduce K-array, the newest addition to its distributed brands, at InfoComm 2009. In addition to K-array’s thin, lightweight loudspeakers, pictured here, Sennheiser will be featuring the MZD 8000 digital module for the MKH 8000 Series at the show.

The K-array line is geared for medium to large-scale applications, including touring, events, installed sound, and broadcast. The MZD 8000 digital module lets the MKH 8000 series be digitalized at the microphone head.

“Installed and live sound professionals will be very impressed with the space-saving designs, easy set-up, and sheer power of the entire K-array line,” said Dawn Birr, product manager for K-array at Sennheiser, noting that the gear has already been put to the test in Europe and the Middle East.

The compact MZD module, meanwhile, is simply screwed onto the microphone head in place of the XLR module. Like other signal-carrying components in the 8000 series, the module has two channels and converts the microphone signal according to the AES 42 standard, turning the audio signal of the MKH 8020 (omni-directional), MKH 8040 (cardioid) and MKH 8050 (super-cardioid) into a digital one. “Signal disruptions caused by interference or cable capacitance are a thing of the past, as digitalization takes place directly behind the microphone head,” Birr noted.
