75th Tony Awards and 66th Drama Desk Awards Laud Sound Designers

NEW YORK – This month, the 75th annual Tony Awards and 66th annual Drama Desk Awards are lauding achievements in theatrical productions staged during the 2021-2022 season. The Tonys, honoring Broadway productions, were held June 12 at Radio City Music Hall in New York, while the Drama Desk Awards, with winners for Broadway, Off Broadway and other productions announced June 8, will be presented on June 14 at Sardi’s Restaurant in New York.

TONY AWARDS:

Best Sound Design of a Musical

  • Gareth Owen – MJ

Nominees:

  • Simon Baker – Girl from the North Country
  • Paul Gatehouse – Six
  • Ian Dickinson for Autograph – Company
  • Drew Levy – A Strange Loop

 

Best Sound Design of a Play

  • Mikhail Fiksel – Dana H.

Nominees:

  • Dominic Bilkey and Nick Powell – The Lehman Trilogy
  • Justin Ellington – for colored girls who have considered suicide / when the rainbow is enuf
  • Palmer Hefferan – The Skin of Our Teeth
  • Mikaal Sulaiman – Macbeth

 

DRAMA DESK AWARDS:

Outstanding Sound Design for a Musical
