FALLS CHURCH, VA — Earlier today, we heard the sad news that veteran engineer, author, blogger and pillar of the audio industry, Mike Rivers, passed away after dealing with health issues for some time. He was 78.
Wearing his familiar tan corduroy sport coat (complete with elbow patches), Mike could usually be found roaming the aisles at NAMM or AES shows, gathering materials for the many show reports he would post online at https://mikeriversaudio.wordpress.com, which remains filled with useful pro audio and recording info and reprints of his technical articles. And for several years, Mike had a remote recording truck (called “Gypsy Studio”), which he primarily used to record folk festivals for locally produced albums and radio broadcasts.
Mike was a genuinely nice guy, a one of a kind in the truest sense and will surely be missed. Rest well, old friend.
