TORRANCE, CA – Pioneer DJ Americas, Inc. named John Powell president.

Powell will oversee all Pioneer DJ Americas operations, taking over responsibilities from current president, Yoshinori Kataoka, who has moved to the role of Pioneer DJ Corporation EVP and COO at its Japan headquarters.
Powell first joined Pioneer DJ in summer of 2017 as Senior Vice President of Sales and has implemented an innovative and successful sales strategy which has led to double-digit sales growth for the Torrance-based organization. Powell’s appointment confirms Pioneer DJ’s commitment to continuing its growth and reinforcing its market presence as the global leader in DJ technology and pro audio solutions.
“John has played a key role in our success here at Pioneer DJ and Pioneer Professional Audio. With my new responsibilities as COO at headquarters in Yokohama, I could not think of a better candidate to take on the day-to-day running of Pioneer DJ Americas”, commented Yoshinori Kataoka, COO of Pioneer DJ Corporation and future Chairman of PDJA.
The new President brings an impressive and highly respected executive history in audio, having served in numerous leadership roles at JBL International, Harman and Boston Acoustics. John Powell is a graduate of California State University Northridge and a Beta Gamma Sigma lifetime member.
