LAS VEGAS — When one door closes, another opens. But for the first week in August, FRONT of HOUSE and PLSN readers will have one last opportunity to vote for their favorite Hometown Hero sound and lighting companies AND be able to nominate other companies, individuals and products for a 2016 Parnelli Award. That’s right, even though the voting for the Hometown Hero Awards won’t slam shut until Aug. 8, the door for Parnelli Awards nominations is now wide open, until Aug. 24. And if you haven’t done so, you can also nominate a product for an Indispensable Technologies “IT” Award as well.
This year’s Parnelli highlights will include the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement Award to Richard Fernandez, the Parnelli Visionary Award to Danny O’Bryen and the Audio Innovator award to Greg Mackie. All of the other Parnelli Awards are up for grabs — and it all depends on YOU. Your nomination is critical — it very well could make the difference between whether or not a deserving individual or company gets on the ballot or not.
The most urgent order of business, if you haven’t yet done so, is to cast your vote for the 2016 Hometown Hero Company of the Year. For sound companies, go to http://www.fohonline.com/forms/use/Hometown/form1.php. For lighting companies, go to http://plsn.com/forms/use/Hometown/form1.php. After one more week, votes for the current list of 36 contenders in five U.S. regions plus all of Canada for both sound and lighting will be tallied, and six regional winners and Hometown finalists will be declared in both categories. These finalists will automatically be listed upon the Parnelli Ballot for the final round of voting during the month of September.
After casting your votes for this year’s crop of Hometown Heroes, head on over to the nomination form at www.parnelliawards.com/nominate and make sure YOUR voice is heard. Along with awards for individual designers, there are also awards honoring companies in more than a dozen categories. (And, yes, you CAN nominate your own company!)
