TEL AVIV – Although big concerts planned for Tel Aviv this summer have been cancelled, starting with a July 17 Neil Young/Crazy Horse appearance that was canceled by police out of safety concerns, Lady Gaga’s artRave: the ArtPop Ball tour stop at the same outdoor Tel Aviv site, Hayarkon Park, went on as planned.

The Sept. 13 concert, featuring a mix of Lady Gaga’s newer material with older hits and a duet with Tony Bennett, drew more than 20,000 to the outdoor site. (Gaga and Bennett collaborated on an upcoming album, Cheek to Cheek, which is due out later this week.)

Along with Neil Young/Crazy Horse, this summer’s postponed concerts, prompted by hostilities between Israel and Palestinian militants that included rocket fire from the Gaza Strip, included performances by the Backstreet Boys, Paul Anka and Lana Del Rey.
