LUGANO, Switzerland – Stagetec equipment supported TV broadcasts of Estival Jazz, a festival produced by Swiss broadcaster RSI, which tagets the Italian speaking portion of Switzerland. The outside broadcast vehicle with its integrated Aurus console was patched directly to Studio A of the RSI TV station in Comano, 10 kilometers away, via fiber optic cables. The signals from the musicians were routed to the Aurus sound control room in Studio A via this line, mixed there and routed back to the OB. From there the mix was integrated into the TV program. The festival took place July 10-12 at Lugano’s Piazza Riforma.

RSI Lugano already owns a complex audio network consisting of NEXUS Base Devices and AURUS consoles hooked up to the Big Switch as the central unit. The Big Switch enables flexible interconnection of three sound control rooms and four TV production studios with minimal configuration. All audio signals, signal routing, controllers, logic circuits and intercom systems involved are included automatically when switching. The Big Switch also has a port that is able to connect an OB to the RSI audio network. This is the connection used by the OB at the Piazza Riforma to supply all stage and communication signals to the control room in Studio A during production of the jazz festival.
