LAS VEGAS — The Parnelli Awards Board of Directors is pleased to announce that Brown United, now supporting the event in its 13th year, is the first company to be designated as a Platinum-level sponsor of the annual awards program. This year’s event is set for Nov. 23 at the Las Vegas Mirage.
“Brown United is a charter sponsor of the Parnelli Awards,” said Terry Lowe, PLSN publisher and executive producer of the Parnelli Awards. Lowe noted that Brown United’s Platinum level of sponsorship reflects its early, ongoing and unequaled support for the Parnelli Awards.
“We have been blessed with working with the best people in the Live and Special Event industries for decades, and we are honored to be asked to be the first Platinum Sponsor of The 2013 Parnelli Awards,” said Brown United CEO John Brown. “Acknowledging the greatest contributors to excellence and innovation is important as we continue to be the custodians of our rich history,” Brown added, extending special congratulations to George Travis, the 2013 Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award honoree.
John Brown got started in the business at 14 when he went to work for his father’s scaffolding business. In 1970s, he launched his own company supplying special event structures, and has supplied concert roofs and stages for such artist as Bruce Springsteen, Phish, Billy Joel and Paul McCartney; and music festivals that include Coachella, Stagecoach, Bonnaroo, Firefly, and Outside Lands, among others.
Brown has also been a leader in safety and is a founding member of the Event Safety Alliance, a group of entertainment industry leaders working to establish universal safety standards for the production of live events.
Along with its prominence within the live events industry, Brown United has a long history with the Parnelli awards program. In addition to have been a sponsor since the first Parnelli Awards in 2001, John’s father, Mike Brown, was the second to receive a Parnelli Lifetime Achievement Award.
