The Great Barrier Reef, white sands and crystalline waters are just a part of the attraction of Cairns in Queensland Australia. Either soaking up the sunny days or enjoying the balmy nights, what could be a better way to celebrate summer than by sipping a cocktail while admiring a spectacular view over the ocean.
Situated at Marina Point, next to the new Cairns Yacht Club facilities, Salt House is a unique dining, bar and entertainment venue that blends glamour, funk and style but is still calming and welcoming. The incredible panorama also has fabulous photo opportunities for the snap-happy.
The venue is equipped with a large Restaurant area with a custom wood-fired grill and open kitchen, an outdoor cocktail bar surrounded by flowing ponds and fire features and a glowing bar in the front of the complex which showcases local and visiting bands 4 nights a week.
Fintan Rafferty and Luis Garozzo, owners and managers of Salt House recently decided to replace the existing sound system in the main Bar and outdoor Deck bar because the sound quality was poor and residents living on yachts moored in the adjacent marina often complained, creating problems with the local authorities. It was at this stage that the experience of Mick Evans from Talk to the Mac was enlisted. Mick’s challenge was to design a sound solution which enabled greater sound quality in the bar and on the deck without spilling offensively towards the nautical neighbours.
Mick worked with Syntec International, K-array’s distributor in Australia and New Zealand to come up with a K-array solution.
According to Mick Evans “The directivity of the loudspeakers and integrated sub woofers enabled Salt House to achieve high quality sound within the bar and outside on the popular Deck Bar. The K-array solution also overcame any issues with noise emissions and the surrounding marina precinct.” The project comprised sixteen KK50vb loudspeakers, six KKS50 Integrated Subwoofers, thirty-two KKWALL Stylish Wall Brackets and two KA40 amplifiers.
“Delivering clear high quality sound from live performances to professional DJ’s in a premium waterfront venue like Salt House was always going to create challenges. Strict DB noise limitations had to be adhered too, after researching the best quality industry sound systems on offer worldwide we chose K-array. From excellent sound performance to solid build quality and aesthetic appeal, we are very pleased with our choice” Fintan Rafferty stated.
The loudspeakers are virtually invisible in this installation as they are designed by K-array to provide maximum output and exceptional sound quality with minimal impact visually. Need we say more?
