MINNEAPOLIS — CNTRL: Beyond EDM, a touring series of lectures and performances at various northern U.S. and Canadian venues last fall by electronic musicians/DJs Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice, traveled with Sennheiser’s gooseneck microphones, various DJ software to demonstrate DJ techniques and K-array’s compact and lightweight KR200S loudspeaker system.

K-array went on the road with CNTRL: Beyond EDM, a multi-campus, North American lecture and performance tour that explored the history and future of the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) genre. The tour, which ran from October 29 – November 19, was initiated by world leading DJs, Richie Hawtin and Loco Dice. Its aim was to educate students on the history and future of EDM, while inspiring the next generation of producers, DJs and technology innovators.
The ideology of the CNTRL concept reinforced the importance of working with quality sound and products in music technology. Sennheiser’s gooseneck microphones, various DJ software to demonstrate DJ techniques and K-array’s KR200S were used.
“The K-Array KR200S systems were chosen for their light weight and supreme power to weight ratio. They were easy to setup, easy to transport, and provided premium sound quality” explained Ben Escobedo, RF Services & Field Support Engineer at Sennheiser USA. I knew that with a travelling DJ seminar tour this would be a perfect fit to accomplish great sound quality as well as be able to fit under the cargo space in the group’s tour bus”.
A few attendees of the event asked about the K-Array KR200S system, at first they thought it was LED lighting. Ben was glad to explain that it was actually a premium sound system. Of course, when the system was turned on people were blown away by the remarkable sound quality. In addition, KR200S systems were provided to first time users who never heard of or seen K-Array before and they had zero issues with setup or operation. This proves that K-Array is a great choice for beginners or seasoned audio professionals alike.
“The K-Array system performed flawlessly, and worked great as the main audio throughout the CNTRL tour. It was easy to setup and break down and it’s small footprint was loved by the tour’s supporters. It was a perfect fit for this application where premium sound, easy setup, and a small footprint were all required”.
Although the tour has come and gone, for techno enthusiasts – don’t worry! there’s already talk for 2013…
