LOS ANGELES — Music instrument retailer Guitar Center purchased West LA Music, a music retail outlet that had been a source for gear for professional customers as well as consumers for 46 years. West LA Music’s last day of business was Saturday, Aug. 4, according to published reports. (The company’s website was still up after that date, and a phone line active, but callers were instructed to leave a recorded message.) Along with retail sales to professional users, the company had been active working with members of the Grammys Producers & Engineers Wing to stage the annual West LA Music Recording Expo.
