Over the years, rack mount analog mixers have developed from simple utilitarian devices into some fairly complex systems suitable for serious pro applications. And despite their compact enclosures, these can provide a real solution, whether employed as a submixer as part of a larger rig or simply used as-is in a straightforward application, where showing up with the latest 72-channel behemoth for a small bread-and-butter gig at a local mall opening just seems like overkill.
