In Memoriam: Eddy Shenker, Jam Industries Co-Chairman

TORONTO — Eddy Shenker, co-chairman of Jam Industries Ltd., died June 11, 2012 after a short battle with cancer. He was 70. Shenker and Marty Golden formed Jam Industries in the early 1970s. It began as Erikson Music, with less than $1 million in sales. Today, Jam Industries is a $225 million-plus company with 13 Canadian and U.S. divisions.

Now employing more than 500, Jam Industries operates in market segments ranging from musical instruments, professional audio and lighting and consumer electronics.

Shenker, who also served as president of the board of directors at the Music Industries Association of Canada (MIAC), is the recipient of that association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He is a graduate of McGill University and Concordia University.

Shenker is survived by his wife Fran, two children, Brian and Robert, and five grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, June 13.
