Radio Active Designs Issues Advisory on T-Mobile’s Deployment of 600 MHz Band

FOH Staff • News • February 18, 2021

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ –

James Stoffo, CTO for Radio Active Designs, sent a letter to wireless professionals on the latest update on the now-prohibited 600 MHz band of wireless spectrum.

More details from Radio Active Designs (www.radioactiverf.com):

The letter from James Stoffo follows:

Dear Wireless Professionals:

As many of you are aware, the 600 MHz post-auction transition period ended last July. As a result, it is illegal for BAS operators to operate in prohibited 600MHz bands regardless of whether or not carrier licensees are operational.

If you have not yet ceased operations in prohibited 600MHz bands, it is imperative that you do so immediately.

•       Broadcasters should review this list to make sure affected stations know that T-Mobile’s license for spectrum will start being used soon.

•       The list includes an estimated timeframe in which T-Mobile plans to begin using the spectrum in each county.

For your information, the following chart illustrates how the new wireless Band 71 overlays on the existing UHF channels 38-51. T-Mobile wishes to minimize interference with the wireless base stations and handsets that will operate in the new band and we want to avoid disruptions to any broadcast operations currently in use.

Everyone should be aware of the change in ownership and use of the 600 MHz band and know that any operations in these bands are considered illegal and carry hefty fines if caught. If you have any questions or concerns, you can contact T-Mobile directly at SpectrumClearing@T-Mobile.com

Radio Active Designs UV-1G wireless, analog intercom system operates in the LEGAL, remaining spectrum and can be coordinated, making it an extremely viable communications option for all applications. With our free software download, every belt pack may be programmed with up to 40 talk paths providing the ultimate flexibility. Please feel free to contact me directly for more information.

Thank you,

James Stoffo

CTO, Radio Active Designs
