Pro Tools “Exclusivity” Broken?

A video started making the rounds as FOH’s August 2009 issue was going to press that appears to at least imply that the unbreakable tie between certain Digidesign software and approved hardware has been cracked. Or maybe it is a marketing strategy. Bottom line is that at least on the lower-end of the audio spectrum, you can now run Pro Tools (and the plug ins that have become such a hot ticket in the live audio realm) using a Mackie Onyx mixer as the front end.

EAW Products Chosen for Pride Barcelona 09

BARCELONA, Spain — Focus, S.A. was recently contracted to furnish sound reinforcement for Pride Barcelona 09, a GLBT event attended by an estimated 15,000 people. The event was held at Avenida Maria Cristina, and Focus relied on EAW for loudspeakers and processors for the night’s main stage concert, which featured live musical artists and DJs.

Tool Engineer Using DiGiCo SD8 for Monitors

CHICAGO — Stephen Curtain, staff engineer for 8th Day Sound, has worked with Tool since the band’s 10,000 Days tour in 2006, and while he’s used DiGiCo desks previously, this is his first outing with a DiGiCo SD8 for the band’s summer tour, which included headlining spots at the All Points West and Lollapalooza festivals.

Adlib Takes On Two New Stages at Latitude Festival

SOUTHWOLD, U.K. — Adlib Audio supplied sound equipment and crew to the Latitude Festival for the fourth year running, this year taking over two new stages — the Uncut second stage and the Sunrise Arena, in addition to the Lake Stage, the Film & Music Arena and the Cabaret Tent which also had a “roving” sound system. The Adlib team of 14 was crew-chiefed by Richy Nicholson.
