Davie Leuschner, on the technology team for the nearby Gateway Church, offered advice and suggestions to the workshop attendees.

FORT PAYNE, AL — Joe Dan Stogner, Jr., 61, a longtime crew member supporting tours for bands including Alabama and country singer/songwriter Alan Jackson, died Feb. 10 at his home in Fort Payne, AL After getting his start hanging P.A. systems for the old Alabama-based Electro Tech Audio Company, Stogner hit the road with the band Alabama in their heyday, starting in 1983. He also served as a longtime stage manager for Alan Jackson, from the mid-1990s until 2015.

LOS ANGELES — For First Baptist Church of Los Angeles, which hosts worship services while also serving as a site for film and TV shoots, the church team turned to CCI Solutions to design and install an efficient new system centering on L-Acoustics' Kiva and X Series enclosures. The new system replaces an older setup where multiple systems were cobbled together.

LOS ANGELES — The Manhattan Transfer and a cappella group Take 6 are for the first time performing together on their "Summit Tour." To manage the complex live production, a Roland M-5000 OHRCA Live Mixing Console was brought into play. The Summit Tour’s FOH has to mix up to 10 voices at a time while the monitor mixer manages a combination of IEMs and wedges, and the Roland M-5000 gives them the flexible work surfaces needed to make all of that happen.

MILFORD, NH - Loudspeaker systems manufacturer Adamson has been relying on the Earthworks M23 measurement microphone to provide accurate results for many tasks, including system setups on the road or in training. Brian Fraser, senior applications engineer and product manager at Adamson, first came across Earthworks microphones in July 2015, setting up a system for the Pope in Chile. "The microphones we have don’t break easily and they are reliable and very consistent. These mics also keep their consistency in areas where there is high humidity and high heat," he says.

POMONA, CA – Purpose Church recently upgraded from a 25-year-old audio setup to EAW's Adaptive sound reinforcement system. The fan-shaped sanctuary required 180-degree coverage, with the ability to dial in full room coverage or scale it down for smaller events. EAW’s Application Engineering team built the church model in Resolution and created custom presets that would help church members operate the system for a variety of applications and seating configurations.

MANCHESTER, NH — Southern New Hampshire University (SNHU) recently upgraded its athletic Fieldhouse sound system with a Nexo GEO S12 line array, with assistance from MFI Productions of Hooksett, NH. The Fieldhouse's 40-foot ceiling needed a new approach to eliminate reverberation and improve the acoustics, according to MFI's Rick Elliot. The 2,000-seat facility's new system provides even coverage across the floor seating and bleacher areas.

CHICAGO - Whether mixing audio or tour managing, Robert Dugan relies on Sensaphonics 2MAX in ear monitors to protect his artist's hearing as well as his own. On the road, Dugan uses the 2MAX even when he's not mixing monitors. "When I'm mixing front of house, I record my house feed most nights, then listen to it through the 2MAX on the bus or in my hotel," he says. "I know I'm hearing all the details, and it's a great way to keep both myself and the band happy with the mix."
