TobyMac 'Hits Deep' With DiGiCo

NASHVILLE - TobyMac's tour - which features a cavalcade of leading Christian music artists - is carrying a pair of DiGiCo SD10 consoles that keeps a complex set of shows running smoothly night after night. Two separate stages are set up in each venue enabling near-continuous music performances, culminating in TobyMac’s own show. Blackhawk Audio is the sound reinforcement provider for the tour.

NEW YORK — When Broadway’s Imperial Theatre was transformed for the 360-degree musical, Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812, sound designer Nicholas Pope was presented with some serious audio challenges. Danley Provides Intelligibility for Glens Falls Civic Center

GLENS FALLS, NY - Intelligibility was a big problem in the arena of the Glens Falls Civic Center, which hosts concerts, rodeos, wrestling, comedy, graduation ceremonies and the Adirondack Thunder hockey team. Until recently, when it received a massive upgrade to its sound reinforcement system: 14 Danley SH-96 point source loudspeakers powered by Ashly processing and amplifiers now ring the hockey rink. AVL Designs, which oversaw the design and commissioning of the new system, says it was more cost-effective to install a completely new Danley system rather than to fill the holes in the existing one.

EAW Reinforces Scott Hamilton Fundraiser

CLEVELAND - Anderson Audio provided an EAW Adaptive System to reinforce the annual Scott Cares, a skating/music fundraiser put on by ice skating champion Scott Hamilton at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland. Singer/songwriter Michael McDonald headlined the program, which raised money to fight cancer. Production Manager Scott Harvey says, "The sheer amount of power, coverage and ease of rigging that the Adaptive system offers allowed us to run under very tight timelines and saved us considerable cost – which is particularly important for our fundraising event.”

NILES, IL - Shure is celebrating legendary artists and the 50th anniversary of the SM58 with limited special edition SM58 microphones, to be auctioned through charity. The serialized microphones will come with graphics specific to each artist. All proceeds will be donated to Paul McCartney's charity, Meat Free Monday and The Who's charity, Teen Cancer America. “Paul McCartney and The Who have created some of the most influential music in our lifetimes... We thought it only appropriate to team up with them to create a special 50th Anniversary edition of the SM58 microphone, which has been used to share their voices with fans of all ages for decades,” said Mark Brunner, vice president of corporate and government relations at Shure Inc.

DALLAS — Larry Sizemore, a Dallas-based member of the first generation of Showco touring crewmembers who worked with rock legends and icons including Lynyrd Skynyrd, Willie Nelson, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Madonna and ZZ Top, among others, died Feb. 16 at the Baylor Cancer Center with his two daughters, Andrea and Emily, by his side, after a long battle with cancer. He was 66.

NEW ORLEANS – A celebrity sports family stepped in to raise funds for the new overhaul at Isidore Newman School’s football field. Peyton Manning, and his father and brother, Eli, raised enough through donations for a new practice field, sky deck, press box and entrance plaza at the newly named Manning Family Athletic Complex. The audio system upgrade includes a new FBT sound system from M.R. Montero Electronics, charged with installing the new gear.

LAS VEGAS — Terry Lowe, executive producer of the Parnelli Awards and publisher of FOH and PLSN magazines, announced that Chris Weathers and Mary Conde have joined the Parnelli Awards Board of Advisors. Weathers, based in Chicago, is a regional director of productions for Live Nation. Conde is director of productions for Another Planet Entertainment (APE), and she also serves as venue manager for the Bill Graham Civic Auditorium in San Francisco.
