OSAKA, JAPAN — Roland founder Ikutaro Kakehashi passed away on April 1, 2017 at the age of 87. Born February 7, 1930 in Osaka, Japan, he founded the Kakehashi Radio electrical appliance store, where he also repaired electronic organs and experimented on prototypes for new models. A few years later, he turned his focus entirely to developing musical instruments and founded Ace Electronic Industries to create products under the Ace Tone brand. Ace also became the Japanese distributor of Hammond organs.

PORT PERRY, ON - Adamson has doubled the size of its manufacturing and R&D facility to meet the growing customer demand experienced over the past three years for its audio products. Adamson has also invested heavily in machinery and manufacturing technologies and is devoting space to product training. The biggest investment in personnel has been in Adamson’s engineering division.

BALTIMORE - Masque Sound,in collaboration with Charcoalblue, created a custom audio equipment package for Baltimore Center Stage's renovated Head Theater. “The primary purpose of the installed system was to provide the general infrastructure ‘canvas’ for system designers to use for their own audio designs,” says Matt Peskie, installations department manager, Masque Sound.

Smaller Controller Surface and Updates for Yamaha Rivage PM10

BUENA PARK, CA - Yamaha has announced new components and V1.5 firmware updates for the Rivage PM10 Digital Mixing System. The new CS-R10-S control surface is approximately two-thirds the size of the existing CS-R10, and offers the same operability for applications where space is limited. The firmware update V1.5 includes an Eventide “H3000 Live” Ultra-Harmonizer plug-in and Dan Dugan Sound Design automatic mixer plug-in. It will be available in the third quarter of 2017.

WHITE HOUSE, TN – After 20 years of providing sound reinforcement, White House, TN-based Blackhawk Audio Inc. has invested in an Eastern Acoustic Works (EAW) Adaptive System for in-the-round and traditional applications.

 The new system, made up of 40 Anna array modules and eight Otto subwoofers, made its debut at the recent Living Proof Live with Beth Moore event hosted by LifeWay Christian Resources at the Eagle Bank Arena in Fairfax, VA.

Bose System Puts Audience in the Middle of the Music for Live Radio Shows

BOZEMAN. MT — Live from the Divide (LFTD), “A Celebration of the American Songwriter,” has 60 minutes of some of top songwriters performing in a 50-seat venue and recording facility in Bozeman, MT. The show is broadcast on regional public radio stations and distributed by the Public Radio Exchange (PRX), but its influence has been felt much further afield, with over 275 shows in its four years of existence. The small space — a renovated icehouse from the turn of the century — acts as the show’s live venue, and has been transformed by technology from Bose Professional.
